We host Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) guests for one week 3 or 4 times a year. IHN guests are homeless families needing safe shelter, food, and fellowship, until they have a home, employment and can become self-sufficient.
When hosting, our church family's responsibilities are to transform our Sunday School rooms into bedrooms, provide food and prepare meals, supply evening hosts and overnight hosts, and dismantle the facilities and launder bedding at the conclusion of the week.
Sign-up boards listing ways you can participate appear in Fellowship Hall a few weeks prior to each host week. This is a national program and Faith Church was instrumental in its local planning and startup.
The program is operating successfully with a downtown Day Center, which provides each IHN family an address and phone number. The Day Center is also the office for the IHN director, the van driver, and volunteers. Faith members serve on the IHN Board and special event committees in the spirit of service and hospitality.
Our weeks to host IHN in 2008 are: Feb 24 - Mar 1 Jul 27 - Aug 2 Nov 16 - 22
See the Help Needed page in the Want Ads section for current IHN needs.
