Summer Reading / Mission Project: Feed your mind this summer and at the same time help feed hungry families through Northern Chruches Care. It's easy! All you need to do is read, read, READ! Between June 1st and August 31st a food item will be donated to NCC for every book read from our church library. Every time you finish a book, just fill out a paper "soup can" and drop it in the basket. You do NOT need to bring a food item (but you may if you like) when you return your books. This summer reading / mission project is being sponsored by the library staf and Friday Morning Bible Study. If you would like to help sponsor this project by pledging to bring food items, please contact J. Boggess or M. Stephan. Check the bulletin board in the entry vestibule to follow our progress - a food sticker is added for each book read!
Training for Ushers and Greeters: Worship Council has planned training for all Ushers and Greeters so we can continue to make our congregation a friendly place where people matter. J. Wilson and T. Mullin will be leading training after the 10:30 am worship service every Sunday in August except August 10th. Please join us for one of these brief training sessions if you have ushered or greeted previously or you would like to start serving Faith Church in this very important ministry.
Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN): Our next 2008 IHN host week will be November 16-22. See the IHN page for details about IHN and the Help Needed page for current IHN needs. If you have not been involved before, but would like to learn more, contact M. Rowe.
Congregational Meeting October 19th: A Congregational Meeting will be held October 19th for the purpose of electing Elders and Deacons for the class of 2011 and electing at large members of the nomoinating committee.
Dinner Theater Production: Seeking teen and adult actors for the dinner theater production of The Case of the Mysterious Benefactor. We currently have six people out of a cast of nine. We need at least one more actress. Either an actor or actress can fill the other two roles. If you are interested, please contact B. Field. Also, due to summer and vacation schedules, rehearsal will probably not start until late August or early September for a late October production. No dates have been determined at this time. Contact B. Field with any questions regarding this production.
Women of Faith Conference with the theme "Infinite Grace" will be held at the Pepsi Center in Denver on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. Please note the posters on the Narthex table and in the west hall. There are special rates for early sign-ups and groups of 10 or more. Contact E. Yund for more information and to make a reservation.
Second Saturday Suppers: Second Saturday Suppers is a wonderful way to stay in touch with church friends and to get to know each other better. We meet in members' homes for dinner on the second Saturday of every month during the school year, in groups of 6-10. You do not have to attend every month and you do not have to host the dinners in your home. You can offer to help host at another member's home. The hostess provides the main entree and everyone else supplements the meal by bringing side dishes. This is a wonderful opportunity to renew old friendships and form new ones. Contact A. Franey or the church office to sign up.
2nd Monday Breakfasts: Join us for breakfast fellowship at 6:30 am on the 2nd Monday of every month at the Omelette Parlor on Fillmore Street.
Giant Garage Sale: The 2008 Garage Sale was a tremendous success. Through the efforts of many people, we raised $4,264. An announcement of the distribution of the funds will be made when all requests have been reviewed by Mission Council. A huge thank you for all who worked on the garage sale, and all who donated items for the sale!
2008 Mission Work Trip for Youth: Our 2008 GE summer workcamp was at Glacier Camp and Conference Center in Lakeside, Montana, Saturday, June 7th through Sunday, June 15th. Our large project was building a deck. We also did general camp work tasks such as cleanup and weeding, among others. It was a great trip. We joined in fun as we worked together, bonding and enjoying the outdoors.
